Family Caregiver Program
Support Groups
Currently,
we have 7 Support Groups available in our seven county service area.
They include Support Groups in the following towns:
- Bartlesville, Oklahoma
- Grove, Oklahoma
- Pryor, Oklahoma
- Nowata, Oklahoma
- Quapaw, Oklahoma
- Claremore, Oklahoma
- Vinita, Oklahoma
A caregiver support group can offer an atmosphere of understanding and support for caregivers to discuss issues and problems. Some caregivers feel if they participate in a support group they are in some way not coping. Nothing could be further from the truth. By participating in a group, they are recognizing to become a successful caregiver might include seeking additional support and resources.
A caregiver support group can:
- Provide guest speakers with information on a variety of caregiving topics.
- Help you deal with stress and provide ways to reduce its effects.
- Help you deal with emotional issues, such as the guilt of placing a family member in a nursing home.
- Provide you with information about community resources and benefits.
- Help you understand and address the losses associated with caregiving.
