Choosing a Nursing Home
DEFINITION OF OMUDSMAN
The Ombudsman program serves residents living in long-term care facilities throughout the Northeast Counties of Oklahoma. These facilities include nursing homes, assisted living, and residential care homes. An Ombudsman helps improve the quality of life and the quality of care available to the residents.
A long-term care ombudsman is a person who receives telephone calls from:
- Residents of long-term care facilities
- Friends or relatives
- Facility staff or Administrator
- Anonymous caller
- Guardians or Powers of Attorney
The Ombudsman attempts to resolve problems/concerns within the facility. The Ombudsman has the authority to explore problems and recommend corrective action.
