Silver Haired Legislators
The Silver Haired Legislature (SHL) is a voice speaking for the best interests of older Oklahomans. It was created by the Oklahoma State Legislature as a vehicle to educate older Oklahomans in the legislative process and to provide a means of bringing the needs of this growing population to the legislators’ attention for action.
Candidates for office must be 60 years of age or older, must be registered to vote in the Oklahoma precinct they seek to represent and there must be an opening in the district they wish to serve.
It is the blending of senior wisdom and the legislative expertise of state legislators as they work together that makes being a member of the Oklahoma Silver Haired Legislature an exhilarating and rewarding experience.
